PostPosted: Monday, 11.Aug.2003 09:50    Post subject: A couple of questions concerning bluetooth connections   Reply with quote

Hi!

What are the advantages of starting a bluetooth connection from my P800? Question

1. Is it possible to browse my computer's file system from my P800? Question

2. Is it possible to set up the computer's internet connection from my P800? Question My computer can´t be online all the time...

3. I've read about these batch files you need to start a bluetooth connection from your P800.
Is it right that "Bemused" or "Proximity Connector" do the same job? Question

Please explain me.

1. yes i think so using an app called bemused

2. yes - you can use the p800 as a remote for your computer - it shows you the screen of your computer on your p800 (you have to scroll around it). I can't remember what the app is called though.

3. yes - proximity connector does that job. bemused lets you remote control winamp / powerpoint / windows media player in a nice way.

Can I really browse the whole file system by using "Bemused"?

I think you can only access to music files, right? Question

Hi!

edsykes2000, thank you for your answer.

I think this screenshot makes clear that you can only browse music files... Sad

Arrow Who knows how to browse the computer's file system from your P800 by using a bluetooth connection? Question

Is there really no possibility?

When I try to run the "P800_Bluetooth_Connector.exe", I get an error saying,

Failed to load control 'CommonDialog' from comdlg32.ocx. Your version of comdlg32.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.

I am running Win XP, copied the MSCOMM32.OCX in the system32 directory, Billionton bluethooth drivers and downloaded the spylite separately. But I cant do any configuration as I cant even run the Proximity Connector. Any ideas?

Always have a look in the Applications List, where you also can find Bemused. From the latter page you can find a link to the software. It is freeware.

BentL ,

Thanks I must have missed this... So it looks like it's worth downlaoding ONLY if BT works with the PC (and mine DOES NOT) Sad

If you look in your systray (bottom right hand corner of windows desktop) then you will see a couple of arrows with a "//" in between them justt right click that and select properties. Also if you look a page or two back you will find this question already answered!!
Anyway ephebe:
My problem is that I just get "checking log" in proximity connector and I read what you told some others but the mac address is spot on and i followed your guide to the tee a number of times but still i cant connect then when i try to manually connect to bluetooth serial port it says connecting then i get a box pops up saying "The bluetooth serial port com0 will be used when connecting to device P800.

Applications that use this service must be configured to communicate using Com0. It can be started at any time.

and the "Do not display this message again check box thing"
So i click OK and then i get the error screen "The bluetooth Serial Port connection failed: The remote device closed the connection"

Any ideas ?? Cheers
Paul
