Thanks for the info, both the 7700 and 7710 were advertised as having a power-saving display mode with 640x65 pixels. Does the 7700 have this feature? I never found it on the 7710.

The power saver mode is the onethat you get when you press the power-off button on the side I think. Smile

Laughing Laughing Laughing Smile Smile Smile

Well i just couldn't help being happy to see so many people wondering about this. It took me over a month to understand what it means. The power saving mode with 640x65 pixels is nothing but the screen saver mode or sleep mode. When the phone is sleeping, you can see only a small bar running the length of the screen and around 1 cm in height, which carries info regarding your carrier, date, missed calls, sms etc....Well this is what nokia refers to as the "power saving mode".......Silly of nokia I'd say. This is just my explanation. Correct me if anybody has a better one. Smile

I thought that 7700 was a test model and didn't sold to end-user, only cell-operators...

And you thought right! The 7700 was only an experimental model to showcase the series 90 platform. Nokia did initially have the idea to launch it in the market, but it had quiet a few flaws including design and the OS was not ready either. and by the time Nokia ironed out the flaws, the design was too outdated and toyish. So they put the upgraded OS into a more sleek (according to nokia Smile ) design and named it the 7710, successor to 7700.

The Nokia 770 connects to the web either through WiFi or through Bluetooth. It does a pretty good job of detecting nearby WiFi networks and hooking up to them automatically. I've bonded mine to my BT-enabled cellphone (a Motorola V3 RAZR), and it connects fine to the web through that if necessary. Connection speed is what you'd expect: an arbitrarily high speed for WiFi, and about 9.6kbps for BT (since it's using the BT phone strictly as a wireless modem).
I imagine if I subscribed to T-Mobile's wireless data plan (around $20/month for unlimited access), my data rate would be higher: I haven't tried it. But--unlike, say, Sony's hookup with Cingular on their latest-model laptops--the Nokia 770 doesn't come with its own proprietary data plan or SIM card.
The Nokia also differs from typical PDAs in that it is a web (etc...) client first and everything else second. It doesn't come with an embedded contact manager, for example, though you can import (with some difficulty) contact lists from popular email clients and create an address book for the 770's own mail client.

This forum and thread are about the Nokia 7700 (a Symbian OS Series 90 smartphone) and NOT about Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. You're on a WRONG forum.
