Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive for Symbian will be supported by Nokia HERE according to Nokia Discussions post. Excerpt:
    Important notice for HERE products
When Microsoft bought the Devices and Services division from Nokia in the spring 2014, a Transition Service Agreement (TSA) was agreed where Microsoft committed to support the HERE owned products for 6 months from the closing of the deal, these 6 months are due on 26th October 2014 when the transition of the support from Microsoft to Nokia HERE will be completed. After this date the support for the HERE owned products will be provided by the Nokia HERE team.

Which products are supported by Nokia HERE?

HERE owns and supports the Windows Phone, Windows 8, Symbian, MeeGo and web based products. The following products will be supported by HERE:

    • HERE Drive for Windows Phone 8
    • HERE Maps for Windows Phone 8
    • HERE Transit for Windows Phone 8

    • Nokia Drive for Windows Phone 7
    • Nokia Maps for Windows Phone 7
    • Nokia Transport for Windows Phone 7
    • HERE Maps for Windows 8
    • HERE Maps for Nokia X

For help with the above products please contact directly the Nokia HERE team at here.com/help or use the Help support link inside the app.
Whether that means updates to the downloaded offline maps remains to be seen.

i have just created here account and imported data from my Nokia account as it mentioned to do. I assume this means just before the Nokia account is killed on the N9s delete and create the account with here detail and I should then be able to get map updates. Does anyone know this for certain and if yes, how do I change this for the 808 and Oro devices when the time comes.
Another question is car mode support, not sure if this means updates as that would be very nice.

New update of offline maps is available today according to the nokiateca blog (in Italian).

Current maps version: 0.2.50.103
New maps version: 0.2.54.223

I have just tested that the update is available for my Nokia N9. So Nokia HERE has not forgotten the MeeGo Harmattan and Symbian users. Very Happy

Just finished applying these updates. Upgrading on the 808's and N9 is easier (808 has the faster map download speed). For devices with less than 16gb of internal storage (example Oro) you propably need to remove some countries in the map loader - before upgrading and then add back those you removed afterwards.
The good news is that it seems many of the N9 map gaps seem to have been fixed.

If you are able to close between N9 maps and 808 - use the 808 when travelling due to better navigation options and the improved car mode - if you have a Mirrorlink car system.
Note - make absolutely sure you turn off the unpaved roads option, Symbian devices will warn you if a 'dirt road' route is considered where as the N9 will not warn you - if even knows tractor paths across fields!t666666666666666`

I can't find anywhere I can sign up with "Here" or download the updated maps for Nokia N8 and Nokia N9. Could you please point me in the right direction?

You have to open Nokia Maps and then go to the "Check for updates" menu option. In the N9, this menu option is located as foolows:
    Maps -> <Three dots> -> Manage maps -> <Three bars> -> Check for updates
The maps must downloaded over Wi-Fi or alternatively with Nokia Suite on a PC.

Thanks Bent. Actually I already tried that on the N9. It told me to connect to WiFi and I was already connected so nothing happened. Maybe that means I already have the latest version?

I'll try the Nokia Suite anyway.

I checked my N8 and found that I already have the latest 2015 updates, so all good.

You probably have to restart Nokia Maps while connected to Wi-Fi in order to get Nokia Maps to recognise the W-Fi connection.

I'm determined to stay on my Symbian E6, due to a number of factors, such as the E6's amazing physical qwerty, which is perhaps the only phone that supports classic PC type shortcuts like Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. The awesome Nokia Maps goes without saying of course.

Thus, does anyone know how where to download Nokia Maps 0.2.54.223 for install later on, just in case my phone goes kaput?
