Now that the store has disappeared - there is the question about the best way to restore the phone from a backup as of course any purchased applications cannot be restored using no longer working store.

The last store 'update' (if you can call it that) stopped Anna devices from logging into the store, so I had to update my Oro to Belle to get the few good game purchases before the store died.
I intentionally made Iss Tracker the last program I bought from the Symbian store.

Please comment on the available backup options and what they handle and don't handle. The objective is to protect against accidental deletion of settings or applications from the device - no other reason.

Note that file system encryption and locking is set.

The best option for me is something that works exactly like the backup option that existed in the Series 80 devices - that made memory card backup of everything and restored the device back to the exact state before you made a mistake.
(PS - I have a 9500 that still works)

1. Memory card backup using file manager.
This seems to be capable to making backup of some of the applications to memory card - but perhaps not all of them.

2. Nokia Suite - via USB cable
Only available under Windows of course - I assume this of course does not make backup of all applications as I recall.
If anyone knows an Emulator that allows Nokia Sute to work with Windows on a mac that works properly with this please let me know.
I want to avoid using boot camp.

3. 3rd party tools - please let me know
Note I am using a Mac but will consider using a tool for Windows if that is compatible.

Please don't suggest of any internet based service or site that is against the rules of this forum.
I would like a solution that avoids any firmware modification too.
